Oral corticosteroids alopecia areata
Fracture risk associated with different types of oral corticosteroids and effect of termination of corticosteroids on the risk of fracturesin patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is reviewed. We discuss the current literature to assess this association in both humans and animals. METHOD: PubMed, Embase and CINAHL searches were used, oral corticosteroids bnf. The primary research topic examined was the effect of corticosteroid administration in OA, and RA, on the risk of fracture. The primary outcome was fracture incidence, and secondary outcomes were fracture risk and incidence of OA-defined fractures for RA and OA. The results were compared between individuals who received corticosteroids and controls, oral corticosteroids eosinophilic esophagitis. In both diseases, we compared the incidence of OA-defined fractures with age, body mass index, and smoking at age 21 years, oral corticosteroids bnf. RESULTS: Twenty-three human studies were identified. These were all small in size and reported the effect of corticosteroids on OA-defined fractures (including RA, OA, and non-OA types) at age 21 years, oral corticosteroids hyperglycemia. In these studies, no differences were found in the incidence of OA-defined fractures between the two groups (OR, 1.05 [95% CI, 0.62-1.97]; OR, 1.23 [95% CI, 0.97-1.61]; P = .51). These studies had large fracture cohorts, and the effect of corticosteroids on these fractures was not statistically significant. Moreover, these studies have been reported only on individuals with disease and not on children and adolescents, oral corticosteroids alopecia areata. In the clinical practice, there is little research available regarding these factors. CONCLUSION: Corticosteroids may not be of benefit in OA and RA. This indicates that clinicians, with the support of patients, should not recommend any specific treatment regimen, oral areata corticosteroids alopecia.
